What is Venetian Plaster?

Venetian plaster is a general term that refers to putty made from fired limestone and water. When it’s applied to walls or surfaces and exposed to the air it turns back into limestone. It’s been used for thousands of years across cultures around the world.

What Substrates can Venetian Plaster Go Over?

With modern techniques Venetian Plaster can go on most surfaces; exposed masonry, brick, timber etc. Usually applied with a three coat system. Traditionally lime plaster takes around 10 days to set but the new products have a greatly reduced curing time.

Where can Venetian Plaster Be Applied?

Traditional Venetian plaster is only suitable for internal applications but modern Venetian Plaster can be used internally and externally. It can also be tinted with a wide range of colours to achieve your desired patina and colour. You can create multiple finishes from the single product.
